Seems there isn't "fixing it" in the lecture. The way to overcome this for those who have this issue in young adults to with sufficient reasoning. But first establishing the value of the matter you want to reason with them about. Otherwise no matter how well you reason with them- if they find no value in it to them to learn why it matters logically then it's disregarded sometimes completely. Unfortunately this poses a difficulty for some with this disorder to not take instructions very well. If the person instructing does not know the alsie needs to know why each instruction is relevant and nessesary then after deliberations- much of it could have been discarded unintentionally because the importance of each deliberation was not stressed to satisfy their understanding or it was not stressed at all and the person is treated "neurotypically". This can result in an aweful impression about the alsie being thoughtless or stupid or careless. On the emotional side unless the matter that makes a person sad is identified and the alsie is able to attempt to satisfactorily reason or logicaly engage with the person through a series of questions why it caused them to feel a certain way- it can be frustrating for them to fail to comprehend perhaps because the person they are speaking to and making an attempt to understand has to be important enough to them to care to take the time and make the effort to try to understand what's going on with them. In conversation- the alsie can be talking about something that has caught their obsession while the "neurotypical" so to speak could show a range of emotions and only the most colorful emotions could register in the alsie's mind. Unless the alsie is aware of their challenges in the moment it may not mean much at all to them whatsoever unless they are both on "the same page". For example: The normal individual can talk about work or special interests- but the alsie could look outside of a house window or a car window and be awestruck at God's handiwork (nature) and unless the normal individual is interested and engaged in the same thing- they might at times desire to block out what they consider "irrelevant" information. This is hard for an alsie to overcome. Empathy is always nessesary and wether autistic or not- it's a fundamental necessity for a good human culture which is sold socially today in counterfeit forms. Who is the best person to learn from in such a way everyone knows there is no hypocrisy? One person alone. Jesus Christ Himself. An alsie might never want to engage with others but this isn't right. While there are others who suffer about us there is love from One source that is pure and undefiled and when we find ourselves lacking of it- we can go to the source for help. While the alsie can distance himself from others sometimes thinking "the strain of this effort to understand them has proven unprofitable for me- I'm goong to cease the strain" disjointing from social engagements don't help people who need help and love is required but sometimes we dont feel we have the sufficient amount of it to carry it towards the best viable result. In other words- we know the good we ought to do in the pursuit of understanding others or loving others in our relationships but it is impossible with medications. It is impossible with therapy because therapy cannot pour into our hearts what we must pour back into others. For those who have an ear to hear- let them hear ( or for those with eyes to see let them read ): For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. Romans 7:18‭-‬20‭, ‬24‭-‬25 What is the "sin" in this case? There is a matter we wish to carry out but we sometimes care not enough to carry out that which is right. Listening and understanding others and that isn't just with coworkers or passers by but even with our families. The frustrations can produce strife- strife uncalled for at times and sometimes- many instances. But thanks be to God that Jesus is the One who overcame the world and the One whom we can trust to fix those problems by studying His example. His example is what an alsie that wishes to overcome his shortcomings in the purest and best form possible is by forming a relationship with Jesus and allowing Him to help teach us how to value what we consider "irrelevant" in relation to others. To love people as He did seems remarkably unattainable but us finding value in the resurrected Son of God- Jesus Christ- we will see to value His character- the perfect way He executed compassion and sympathy but that leaves us to learn how we that are imperfect can value empathizing with those who are just as imperfect as us. And the journey begins. It's not a walk in the park all the time- you have to bare with one another as Jesus teaches but the results are valuable and so is becoming more in step with the only Savior who really does save but to the uttermost so for anyone He can do the same and more.

If you made it this far you are quite remarkable. To honor the time here is the treasure of the ages. The Good News. Hard truth but if you perservere to read on- you will find hope and Hope that will not put you to shame. Behold: The Gospel of Jesus Christ The Character of God The Holiness of God Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, and You cannot look on wickedness with favor. Habakkuk 1:13 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. Isaiah 59:2 The Justice of God For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; the upright will behold His face. Psalm 11:7 But the LORD of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness. Isaiah 5:16 God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day. If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready. Psalm 7:11-12 The Depravity & Condemnation of Man For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment Isaiah 64:6 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, ACCURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM. Galatians 3:10 The Great Dilemma He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD. Proverbs 17:15 Far be it from You to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike. Far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth deal justly? Genesis 18:25 God’s Action While maintaining His holiness and justice, the Bible also affirms that God is love, and that in love He has responded to the plight of man. Motivated by Love God is love. By this the love of God is manifested in us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:8-10 The Cross of Christ For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Romans 3:23-26 The Resurrection He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification. Romans 4:25 Man’s Response Repentance begins with a recognition and confession that what God says about us is true that we have sinned. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak and blameless when You judge. Psalm 51:3-4 A genuine recognition of our sinfulness and guilt will also lead to genuine sorrow, shame and even hatred for what we have done. For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. Romans 7:15 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from this body of death? Romans 7:24 Apparent sincerity of confession alone is never definite evidence of genuine repentance. It must be accompanied by a turning away from sin. Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Cease to do evil. Isaiah 1:16 therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Matthew 3:10 Faith Defined Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. Romans 4:21 Faith Based on The Promises of God For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved Acts 16:31 Example of a Believer worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh Philippians 3:3 The Basis of Genuine Assurance True conversion: A true Christian is a new creation and will live a life that reflects God’s radical work of re-creation in his/her life. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? Matthew 7:16 Assurance is based upon self-examination in the light of Scripture. Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you unless indeed you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13 Test of Biblical Assurance 1 John 1:5-7 (Walking in the Light), 1 John 1:8-10 (Confession of Sin), 1 John 2:3-4 (Obedience), 1 John 2:9-11 (Love for the Brethren), 1 John 2:15-17 (Hatred for the World), 1 John 2:24-25 (Perseverance in Doctrine), 1 John 3:10 (Righteousness), 1 John 4:13 (Spirit’s Testimony), Hebrews 12:5-8 (Discipline) © Heartcry Missionary Society

OMG... Been trying to get this 5th grader to fix his frontal lisp ALL year. I had tried EVERYTHING (e.g., "explosive t", straws, modeling, discrimination, etc.) I told him today, we were going to look online at other SLPs and see how they teach their students how to fix their /s/. We watched a few other videos of SLPs giving modeling and advice. Then I saw Pam's video and told him I fondly remember seeing her speak at a conference while at my university learning to become a speech therapist. So we watched half this video and then stopped, and then he tried his /s/, and he DID it! CORRECT! And he said, "I just did what she told me to. I can't say it fast yet, but I get it now." Either I'm an idiot SLP, or the spirit of Pam Marshala visited me and my student and just made it click. Bless this woman for devoting her life to helping students and SLPs.

I just heard this on NPR/Oregon with updates on laws that have been passed..so glad..as a Pediatric Nurse and former soccer player...I am so glad that the data is coming in that can help prevent the acute and chronic problems caused by head injuries. I worked with Jim and he is a true advocate for safety and prevention..backed up with good solid research..and years of experience.

“Imagine a world where Aspergers was the norm, and non-autistics or neurotypicals were the minority. Let's try it: Those who feel the need to constantly be with a variety of friends are considered fickle. Those with no propensity for computers and science are called geeks. Those with no special interest are thought to be ungrounded and lost. Those without obsessive focus have to take classes to cultivate it.” Rudy Simone

This video gives some good facts about mild traumatic brain injury. Are there any more current statistics of mild traumatic brain injury?
